HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT JOB OUTLOOK

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the outlook for managers in the healthcare industry, and especially those with advanced degrees, is excellent—employment is expected to grow 16 percent from 2008 to 2018. As expected, hospitals will continue to be the biggest employers. However, Healthcare Management MBA graduates will also find growing job opportunities from other enterprises, including medical practices, healthcare management companies, biotech firms, and pharmaceutical companies.*

Healthcare is a business and, like every business, it needs good management to keep it running smoothly. Faced with growing pressure to manage rising costs without sacrificing the quality of patient care, healthcare organizations are increasingly turning to MBA graduates with a specialization in healthcare management—graduates such as those from The University of Scranton. While the responsibilities of healthcare managers can vary widely across the industry, many agree that a Master in Business Administration is a prerequisite for middle- to senior-level management positions in the public, corporate, and non-profit sectors of health care.

Some of the most popular positions for MBAs in the healthcare industry include:

  • Hospital Administrator
  • Healthcare Consultant
  • Pharmaceuticals Project Manager
  • Healthcare Services Director of Program Management
  • Medical Practice Manager

As a student in The University of Scranton's Online MBA with a specialization in Healthcare Management, you will acquire the cutting-edge knowledge, practice, and skills to succeed in these and other challenging positions in this field.
